Columbus Community Clinical Oncology Program (Columbus CCOP)in joint sponsorship with Riverside Methodist Hospital

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
The annual meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) is the major scientific meeting for oncologists in the United States and worldwide. The purpose of this course will be to analyze and interpret the major presentations from the national 2010 ASCO Meeting. Our faculty will attend the national 2010 ASCO meeting and analyze the most important papers presented. They will then present this data at our regional program and give their interpretation of the significance of the featured ASCO presentations. This program is intended for medical, radiation and surgical oncologists, oncology nurses and other healthcare professionals.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:
Following this program participants will be able to:
• Provide current evidence based cancer diagnosis and treatment to patients based on:
o Risk-benefit analysis
o Reviews of randomized control clinical trials
o Changes in the understanding of pathophysiology, diagnosis and management of oncology diseases
o New standards of care in patient management
• Realize and address toxicity of treatments offered
• Implement new modalities of symptom management for patients

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Ohio State Medical Association (OSMA) through the joint sponsorship of The Columbus Community Clinical Oncology Program (Columbus CCOP) and Riverside Methodist Hospital (RMH). RMH is accredited by the OSMA to sponsor continuing medical education (CME) for physicians. Riverside Methodist Hospital designates this educational activity for a maximum of 6.0 AMA PRA Category 1 credit(s)TM. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
6.4 contact hours for registered nurse participants have been approved by the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Continuing Education Approval Team. ONS is accredited as an approver of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
6.0 hours of Ohio Pharmacist Certified Continuing Education credits have been applied for through the Mount Carmel East Pharmacy.
